Children's Literature
This course emphasized reading and discussion of children's literature. The types, requirements and sources for children's literature and techniques for selecting literature for particular age levels were discussed.
Children's Literature was probably my favorite class I have taken so far. I believe that taking this class has taught me more than any of the other classes I've taken. We learned how to build lesson plans, which is probably one of the harder things to pick up. During Children's Literature, we also had to create our own children's picture book. Making a children's book was a good experience to have, it was difficult, but it made you really think about if you want to do it in your own classroom or not. Below, please check out an author study I did, a lesson plan I created, and the story book I wrote. The illustrations are not included in by book.
